Things to see and do

Krabi is a province on the south-west coast of Thailand, around 800km from Bangkok, the capital and a world away. It’s population is less than 400.000 in an area of 4709 square kilometres, are still mainly rural, livng from agriculture and fishing. Exceptions to this are Krabi Town, the provincial capital, and the numerous beach areas that have, over the past 20 years, been developed for tourism.
As well as the mainland the 132 islands off the coast of Krabi in de Andeman sea, including Ko Phi Phi Don, Ko Lanta and Ko Jum are inhabited. Most others belong to the National Marine Park and are protected areas that tourists can visit.
Krabi’s attractions are primarily natural: staggeringly beautiful land- and sea-scapes; beaches and islands; rich flora and fauna both above and below water. This makes it the ideal place for both adventure sports, such as scuba diving, trekking, kayaking and rock climbing, as well as more sedate ‘spectator’ activities, like cruising, snorkeling, or simply soaking up the sun on a beach. The rich cultral heritage – the province is around 60 percent Buddhist and 40 per cent muslim – also makes for an interesting mix of food, lifestyle and people. And the residents of Krabi will be a integral part of your holiday. Their English may not be the best, but in ‘The Land of the Smile’ (as Thailand is known) Krabi people have surely the biggest and most genuine on offer.

Beaches in Krabi

AO Nang Beach
The most developed beach in Krabi with wide range of accommodation and a beautiful stretch of white sand beach surrounded by cliffs on one side. Lots of restaurants, bars and probably Krabi's liveliest nightlife.

Noppharat Thara Beach
Just 5 minutes north of Ao Nang and the Headquarters of the Hat Noppharat Thara - Koh Phi Phi National Park. A favourite destination of the locals, Noppharat Thara has a long sandy beach lined with casuarina trees and linked to an offshore island that can be reached when the tide is out. A great place for a picnic.

Railay Beach
Isolated from the mainland, this beautiful white sandy beach surrounded by limestone cliffs and jungle, provides a wonderful backdrop to the blue waters of the Andaman sea. Thailand's premier climbing destination, the sheer limestone cliffs attract climbers from all over the world. A 10-minute walk to Tham Phranang and Phranang beach is a must. Just a 10-minute boat ride from Ao Nang.

Tubkaak Beach
Away from the busy crowds of Ao Nang,  this lovely duvet soft sand beach overlooks the stunning Hong Islands. The beach merges into the cool Kao Hang Nak Natural Forest in the interior and is one of the most tranquil places in Krabi.

Island Hopping Tours
Island Hopping is one of the most popular and enjoyable things to do in Krabi. Krabi"s coastline is dotted with hundreds of islands and offers many way to get to them.
Take our Traditional "Longtail Boat". It's just 20 minutes to Koh Hong, considered one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. Then carry on and visit some of the many deserted islands to enjoy a barbecue lunch on the beach and go swimming and snorkeling.

Sea Kayaking
Visit the islands (hongs) by Sea Canoe. Many of the islands are hollow and the only way to get inside is though hidden tidal cave entrances in a canoe. Once inside you can enjoy the towering limestone cliffs and untouched nature.
Just opposite of our place is Thalene bay. We can take you with our kayaks on a private adventure to the amazing canyon and through the mangrove forest

National Park Tours
The huge limestones outcrops at sea and on land have created natural sanctuaries for wildlife of all kinds. Sightings of Sea Eagles and hornbills are common, wild bore, deer even Asian Bears and Tigers can be seen by dedicated wildlife seekers prepared to venture deep into the more remote areas of Jungle.
To protect these areas Krabi has some of the best national parks in Thailand.

Khao Sok National Park
A huge area of natural rain forest. Trips to the park vary from day trips to several days trekking through the park and sleeping in tents. The park is home to a large variety of birds and mammals and some spectacular scenery.

Tharn Bokkhoranee
A short trip from Baan Klong Sai. Featuring natural springs, limestone cliffs and ponds where wild Monkeys often come and play.
We can take you here on a private trip.

Pa Tung Tieo National Park
South of Krabi it is one of only two remaining areas of natural lowland rain forest in Thailand. A 3 Km trail runs through part of the park to a crystal clear emerald green pond where many birds and wildlife may be seen.

*For most of the National Parks you have to pay an entrance fee. This will be about 200 Baht for an adult and 100 Baht for a child. (Prices may vary)

Rock Climbing Expeditions
Krabi's limestone cliffs are heaven for rock climbers. Local Climbing tours are available to suit all ability levels. Some climbs even start and end from a boat.

Fishing Trips
One of the best area's for reef fishing is the deep water of Koh Hong just 15 Minutes from the house.
Game fishing can be arranged from Krabi town. Catches include Sailfish, Wahoo, Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi ), Tuna, King Mackerel and more.

Diving and Snorkeling Adventures
Krabi has several international standard diving schools offering everything from beginners half day "try Diving" to advanced diver training, PADI instructor courses and specialist cave diving instruction.
The best Diving and snorkeling in Krabi in the Koh Phi Phi area. Day trips can be arranged through local Dive shops and tour agents. Some of the best sites include: Maya Bay, shark point, King cruser wreck and Hin Dang.
On the boat trips we offer there is snorkeling equipment available.

Bird Watching Delights
With all the natural untouched areas in Krabi it is a great place for Birders. Serious trips with knowledgeable guides are available. But a tremendous variety of birds can be seen while making other trips. Horn Bills, Sea Eagles, are guaranteed to be seen on Koh Hong. You could just sit in the garden and watch the sea eagles, sunbirds and many more. Special guides are available to see the rare Gurnies Pitta, expect to commit 3 days of you stay and some 4 am starts.

Krabi has one 18 hole Golf Course situated a few kilometers outside Krabi town, run by the electric generating board. Unlike Resort Golf Clubs, the Krabi course is a Local's Club with it's own special tropical character. The clubhouse is delightful, you feel like you have gone back to colonial times. Basic yes - but you feel welcome and relaxed the moment you walk in. The course is challenging and well set out, so give it a try.

Nightlife in Krabi cannot rival Phuket for variety and is altogether quieter and more relaxed.
If you are looking for a lively night out Ao Nang is just 15 minutes away by bus or taxi where you can find a huge variety of restaurants, bars and pubs, some with live Thai shows or live music.
A little further away (25 minutes) is Krabi Town catering mainly to locals offering some good restaurants, some good pubs with live music and even a couple of Disco's.

We can take you on most of the trips and if not we can arrange it for you.

Car and Motorbike Hire
Renting a car or motorbike and touring yourself, is one of the most enjoyable ways to see Thailand. Car hire is available in
AO Nang or at the airport.
